After two years of work, preparation, and obstacles Dublin IP and R&D Summit 2.0 has come and gone in the blink of an eye!

From Mathys and Squire Consulting’s full-day Intellectual Property Commercialisation Workshop to the round-table discussions and drinks reception, we here at Cosmonauts enjoyed every moment of the Summit. We enjoyed it so much that we’re already planning Dublin IP and R&D Summit 3.0, which you can pre-register for today!

To everyone who attended – thank you 🎉 – and to those who couldn’t make it, we missed you! Meeting, talking with and listening to each of the Summit’s attendees is what made Dublin IP and R&D Summit 2.0 so incredible.

The main goal behind each Cosmonauts event is to form collaborative communities and promote the exchanging and development of ideas. Such events act as a springboard for individual and industry-wide growth, especially when they’re full of carefully selected industry experts.

We’ve had an incredible time listening to, engaging with and learning from everyone who attended. As a thank you for all the wonderful memories, we’ve selected three top moments from the event for us to look back on.

Joe Doyle’s Keynote Speech

Without Enterprise Ireland Dublin IP and R&D Summit 2.0 wouldn’t have been possible. Joe Doyle’s keynote speech on ‘The Role of the State in  Promoting Increased IP Activity in Start-ups and SMEs’, which followed Stephen Creaner’s Opening Remarks, kicked off the conference with a blast of unique insights on the importance of IP in today’s economy.

As Joe Doyle cited in his speech:

“IP is more important than ever as businesses recognize a paradigm shift from tangible to  intangible assets… While protection is core to any IP strategy, it can also have a significant  capital value for any enterprise.” (Greg Case, CEO, Aon plc 2020)

From Pawn to Queen

Anyone watching our opening panel discussion ‘From Pawn to King: Why IP Strategy Is Key In Taking

Your Business To The Next Level?’ will remember David Goodfellow’s concluding remark that on a chess-board the most powerful piece is the ‘Queen’. Through this chess analogy the importance of protecting your IP – The King – with patents and copyright is more clear than ever. By transforming your IP strategy from the power of a Pawn to the power of a Queen you can take your business to the next level by protecting your IP!

As noted by Craig Thomson, Intellectual Property is a game, you just need to learn how to play it.

Round-table Discussions

We opened our event with a delicious breakfast and the opportunity to meet all the attending delegates while exploring the exhibitor stands. After a full-day of talks and breaks it felt as though we’d known each other for much longer than a day. So what better way was there to enjoy the community formed at Dublin IP and R&D Summit 2.0 than sitting down for four Round Table Discussions followed by a drinks reception!

We ended Dublin IP and R&D Summit 2.0 as we always hoped to, celebrating the success of the event with our delegates and sharing the insights and knowledge we gained during the day

Dublin IP and R&D Summit 2.0 may have come to a close, but the Cosmonauts’ Events just keep coming!

Wish you hadn’t missed Dublin IP and R&D 2.0? Or, wishing Dublin IP and R&D 3.0 would come quicker? Cosmonauts have got your back! From legal-tech to space-tech and beyond, Cosmonauts have plenty more events coming your way this year.

Whether you’re an old or new face, we’d love to see you at one of our upcoming events. On April 27th, Cosmonauts are hosting SPACEtalks 3.0 at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Didcot. And, less than a month later, Future Lawyer Week UK will be returning for the fifth time at Etc Venues, St Pauls in London.

Or, if you’re eager for another IP centred event, get your tickets for London IP Week, taking place between September 20th and 21st.

There’s one thing better than being an attendee of Dubin IP and R&D Summit 2.0, and that’s being an event Sponsor!

Not only do our sponsorship packages come with two delegate passes – giving you all the benefits and interactions outlined in this article – being an event sponsor provides you with the unique opportunity to utilise our events to promote your organisation or product.
