It’s a special year for myself and the team at Cosmonauts as we celebrate the company’s 4th birthday. We’ve come a long way in a short period of time, so we wanted to share the story behind how it all started and our successes.

In 2016 I was working as Head of Business Development for the 3rd largest intangible assets commercialisation advisory in the world. During this period we were assisting a number of enterprise technology companies with their intellectual property commercialisation. We were losing the vast majority of our pitches because most organisations were requesting support with their direct product  commercialising , and not their IP. We weren’t doing that, so we told them to go away. 

After the 12th or 15th of the same conversations and doing some basic research I found that market penetration is one of the biggest struggles that the tech industry is experiencing. So I decided to try to do it myself. We said our farewells with my employer (who I highly respect and still keep in touch with) and started Cosmonauts in September 2016 from my dining table.

Our initial offering included outsourced sales for B2B tech companies (Why? Because enterprise tech is expensive and hard to sell.) and bespoke events. Basically the two things I learned how to do from my prior two employment. I started knocking on doors and all doors were shut in my face. One person told me that I am an idiot to think that anyone would be willing to outsource their business development. A month later, in October 2016 that person’s company became Cosmonauts first business development customer. 

Over the past four years together with my staff we have managed to build a multifaceted business that offers more modernisation services than you can shake a stick at. Team growth and development is very important to me, ensuring that everyone working for Cosmonauts from the first employees to the latest interns and even the building receptionist is happy and comfortable in their role and working hard to give us as a business to best service our clients. 

The past 4 years have been amazing, and long may it continue as we grow into more markets and continents with our in-person events.
