It was one HELL of a ride at Cosmonauts, let’s recap 2022!
The end of the year is a time for reflection. It’s the perfect time to look back on our achievements, celebrate our victories and create new memories.
We managed to smash out TEN wholesome events here at Cosmonauts! These include; SPACEtalks 3.0, Future Lawyer Week USA 2.0, Dublin IP and R&D Summit, Future Lawyer Week UK 4.0, FAIR-Space, London IP Week 5.0, Global Agritech Investment Assembly (GAIA), Tomorrow Matters, Legal Innovators UK 3.0 and last but not least Legal Innovators California 3.0! Oof! That is a one-packed list. 🤩
With over 2300 attendees, 445 speakers and 250 event partners – we are more than proud of all our accomplishments and we can only hope to continue flourishing to do BIGGER and better!

SPACEtalks 3.0 (27th April)
SPACEtalks 3.0 event was a space inspired conference with a commercial focus, that took place at Harwell Campus in partnership with the Science & Technology Facilities Council, on the 27th April 2022, and virtually for a wider audience.
We brought together the brightest minds in the industry, government experts and industry professionals. The SPACEtalks panel sessions facilitated powerful discussions regarding space tech and the future of the industry, with speakers from world-leading institutions including the ESA, BEIS, and the UAE space agency.
We were pleasured by the one and only Ray Stott, International Liaison Manager at SpaceSpecialists Ltd. Ray shared his personal insights on space robotics and their relation to space exploration. What an unforgettable power panel that was! 🤖💫

Legal Innovators UK 3.0 (10-11th Nov)
Legal Innovators (LIUK) is all about gathering people to share their views on how combining law and tech will make practising law more efficient, easy and accessible.
Legal Innovators was a two-day conference that took place in the heart of London at etc.venues St Paul’s with day one focusing on how legal organisations and services propel innovations in the legal sector and day two covering the leading-edge innovations in in-house legal teams and how they affect clients.
The exhibiting area was definitely one of our favourite highlights! Our sponsors; eBrevia by DFIN treated us to their candy grabbing machine and a game of connect four, DISCO brought along their disco ball setting the scene for the drinks receptions after day 1, private practice day, and Betty Blocks pulled out their best uniform for the conference – their colourful tulip suits straight from the Netherlands… The list of fun at Legal Innovators was endless!

London IP Week 5.0 (19th-21st Sep)
London IP Week 5.0 was a two day IP event that took place from the 19th-21st of September in the heart of London at etc.venues St Paul’s, designed to bring industry leaders and decision makers together to collaborate and shape the industry of how we use IP.
The week kicked off with an IP Commercialisation Workshop hosted by Mathys & Squire Consulting, followed by a two-day conference focusing on the intersection of technology and IP as well as IP management.
London IP Week 5.0 was delighted to have Cozen O’Conner’s very own Jim Gale and Barry Golob – The Dynamic Duo who gave a wonderfully engaging session regarding litigation and patent trade secrets – what a team!
Our speakers travelled from around the world to join us, from Australia to Singapore to everywhere in between!

Tomorrow Matters (26th Oct)
Cosmonauts were honoured to present our first inaugural Tomorrow Matters (TM) event on October 26th, 2022 at etc.venues St Paul’s in the heart of London, UK. The one-day conference addressed people pioneering in environmental technology as well as investors who are assisting them in doing so. The event was a rockstar moment for the Cosmonauts crew, with almost 140 guests!
Tomorrow Matters facilitated over five fascinating panels covering the importance of renewable energy, how to establish and effective IP management strategy, public and private sector collective action, investors tips and tricks when getting investor ready and what makes a fundable venture, six roundtable discussions, four live pitch presentations a fireside chat and plenty opportunities for networking sessions!

Global Agritech Investment Assembly (GAIA) (25th Oct)
At Cosmonauts we launched our first inaugural green tech investment conference, the Global Agritech Investment Assembly (GAIA)! This one-day, in-person conference took place on the 25th of October 2022 at etc.venues St Paul’s in the heart of London and welcomed over 100 participants from different agriculture and high-technology agriculture industries in addition to many participants from the public and non-profit sector as well as investment and consulting firms.
GAIA is an event that strives to connect industry professionals in order to give possibilities for creativity, thinking, and learning, as well as to present the most recent technology, in order to build a better future for agriculture.
We welcomed the incredible Andreas Wilhelmsson, Chief Strategy Officer, Ljusgarda, discussing the low tech solutions literally changing lives by enhancing nutrients in soil to nurture families in Nairobi, Kenya! Cosmonauts were also delighted to have the one and only Ray Stott, Co-Founder of SpaceSpecialists giving a keynote address on the relevance and importance of space in agritech!

Dublin IP and R&D Summit 2.0 (22nd-23rd March)
Dublin IP and R&D Summit 2.0 was an action-packed and ground-breaking conference that teamed with numerous IP, legal, and technology professionals from across the world and delivered two days of revolutionary and key content yet again!
Enterprise Ireland made Dublin IP and R&D Summit 2.0 possible! Joe Doyle’s keynote speech on ‘The Role of the State in Promoting Increased IP Activity in Start-ups and SMEs’, which followed Stephen Creaner’s Opening Remarks, kicked off the conference with a slew of fresh perspectives on the value of intellectual property in today’s market.

Legal Innovators California 2.0 (9th June)
Artificial Lawyer and Cosmonauts were pleased to bring the event over the pond to San Francisco, California in 2022 after three successful Legal Innovators UK events from 2019 to 2022, and it was a BLAST!

Future Lawyer Week USA 2.0 (14th-15th March)
FLW USA 2.0 was a 2-day interactive legal innovation event hosted in March 2022 on the East Coast. Day 1 of the event was made up of a full day hackathon powered by Josef with Day 2 being a full day conference packed with content specific to the sector; this includes networking opportunities, thought-provoking discussions hosted by industry experts!

Future Lawyer Week UK 5.0 (18th-20th May)
FLW UK 5.0, held at etc.venues in St Paul’s and organised in partnership with headline sponsors DISCO, Neota, and LitiGate, was an enlightening conference filled with thought stimulating conversations on Legal Tech related topics such as hybrid working, data security, document automation, and much more.
FLW UK 5.0 was filled with stellar panels but the conference’s most inaugural panel was definitely; ‘In the Aftermath,’ which generated a grand discussion among legal professionals from across the sector about the move to hybrid working. They emphasised the obstacles that virtual learners encounter and made us reconsider the importance of face-to-person contacts in the onboarding process.
The flagship conference gained over 500 participants, 25 exhibitors and over 100 remarkable speakers!

FAIR-Space
SpaceSpecialists and Cosmonauts joined together in 2021 to establish a partnership focused only on the space business. Following the success of SPACEtalks, the FAIR-SPACE team sought us for assistance in presenting two hybrid events to showcase the institution’s achievements over the previous five years. And so we did!
Event 1 – The first day of the event consisted of The FAIR-SPACE Robotics Summit, hosted by the Future AI & Robotics in Space (FAIR-SPACE) Hub, UK Space Agency (UKSA), Satellite Applications Catapult, and National Robotics Network (NRN), with experts from the robotics and space industry coming together with researchers and government professionals to explore transformative possibilities and chart a roadmap for the future. This took place on 16th February in Media City, Manchester.
Event 2 – Followed by the second day of the event; The FAIR-SPACE Showcase event which featured the completion of a five-year programme. This event featured a remote live demonstration of haptic technology and robots being controlled between two sites, Edinburgh and London, highlighting the vast potential of the technologies. The Cosmonauts team constructed a hybrid venue that enabled live streaming across three universities: Edinburgh University, Surrey University, and Imperial College London.
