Dublin IP and R&D Summit 2.0 is less than a month away and we have an exceptional lineup of speakers this year!


This year Dublin IP and R&D Summit 2.0 will be taking place over two days with an interactive IP Commercialisation workshop led by Mathys & Squire Consulting on Day 1, and an interactive IP and R&D conference on Day 2, looking at the most contemporary trends in the world of innovation.


Our Speakers


Ranging from IP Directors to Chief Executive Officers, our experienced speakers come from top firms and companies such as IBM, Mastercard, Huawei Ireland, The Bar of Ireland, Enterprise Ireland and more!


Anita Shaw, Chartered UK Patent Attorney & European Patent Counsel, IBM EMEA


Anita Shaw is a dual qualified UK & European Patent Attorney at IBM. Having trained in general sciences and then Computer Science, she qualified in UK & European Intellectual Property Law and now deals with all forms of IP across all stages of the life cycle, as well as working on wider IP policy issues e.g., around Artificial Intelligence.


In terms of diversity and inclusion, Anita is an advocate of improving diversity in STEM careers and speaks internally at IBM’s Women in Technology events and externally for nonprofit organizations. She is also passionate about supporting ethnic minorities and in 2017, became a founding member of IP&ME (support group for BAME IP professionals), under IP Inclusive. 


Adeline Fleming, Senior Managing Counsel, Mastercard


Adeline-Fleur Fleming is a Senior Managing Counsel at Mastercard heading the IP team in Europe and a member of the Mastercard European Legal Leadership team. 


As part of her practice, Adeline handles a mixture of patent, trademark, litigation, M&A and soft IP matters. 


Prior to joining the Mastercard group, Adeline was a Senior Patent Attorney at Arm.  Adeline qualified as a European Patent Attorney at Page, White and Farrer a specialist Patent and Trademark law firm based in London, she has a Master’s Degree in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford.


Cian Farrell, Head of Legal, Huawei Ireland


Cian Farrell joined Huawei Ireland in November 2017 as Legal Counsel for Huawei Ireland’s carrier, consumer, enterprise and R&D departments. He was promoted to Head of Legal in September 2019 extending his role to oversee the company’s legal, policy and regulatory affairs. 


Prior to joining Huawei Ireland, Cian worked as a Senior Manager in the Verizon Ireland (Centre of Excellence) Procurement Team, Senior Legal Counsel for First Data Ireland, Senior Associate in Matheson’s Technology and Commercial Contracts Group and was an Associate in the Taylor Wessing (London) Private Equity Department.

He received his undergraduate degree in law from University College Dublin and went on to obtain a Commercial Law Masters at the same college.


Brendan Guildea, Barrister at Law, The Bar of Ireland


Brendan Guildea LL.B, LL.M, B.L. was called to the Irish bar in 2011. He worked at Practical Law Company (now owned by Thomson Reuters) as a multi-jurisdictional guide Editor before commencing practice in Dublin in Michaelmas 2012. He  describes himself as a ‘tech enthusiast’. 


In addition to being married to an English Corbynite, Brendan has advised UK companies who are relocating to Ireland post-Brexit. This work includes matters of taxation, intellectual property and general corporate law.


Joe Doyle, IP Manager, Enterprise Ireland


Joe Doyle is the Intellectual Property Manager for Enterprise Ireland (EI). He manages the EI IP Strategy support programme which aims to help Start-ups and SMEs integrate IP strategy with their business and innovation strategies. He also represents EI on national and international IP policy issues, EU IP support programmes and an IP Management Expert Group. He is a regular contributor to national and international initiatives aimed promoting greater IP strategy awareness, focussing particularly innovative SMEs. 


He holds a BSc in Materials Science, postgraduate diplomas in Strategy and Innovation and Organisational Behaviour and an MSc in Business Practice. Previously, he worked as a research scientist for 15 years at the University of Limerick where, as well as his research activity, he successfully executed a number of patent filings, licence/assignment agreements and was cofounder of an IP rich University spin-out company.
