Della raises $2.5m in its first seed-funding round

Contract review start-up Della has raised $2.5m from its first round of seed funding. The money provided by already existing investors, alongside new investor Pragmatech Ventures, will help the company build its presence in the United States and Europe. 


Della is a European tech company based in Paris and London which provides a contract review AI product to organisations including Fidal and Mishcon de Reya. Della’s AI is able to operate in over 20 languages and intends to provide users with an easy-to-use legal review process.

Epiq Acquires Fireman & Co

Technology-enabled legal service provider Epiq has acquired legal industry-focused management consulting firm Fireman & Co. This acquisition will strengthen Epiq’s digital transformation offerings and innovative technology solutions.


Technology in the legal world is becoming increasingly important for legal service providers to stay at the forefront of their industry. Ziad Mantoura, Epic’s SVP commented on the acquisition, stating:

“The constant change in the legal industry has accelerated the need for law firms and businesses to gain more value from their information assets, and stronger knowledge management and data management are key drivers for gaining a competitive advantage,” (globenewswire.com)

Solicitors Regulation Authority reports a “lack of trust and visibility” in online interactive legal tools

The Solicitors Regulation Authority has warned that there is a “lack of trust and visibility” in self-help legal tools available to people online. 


The regulator is currently running a project to stimulate new approaches to utilising technology and innovation to address inequalities in people’s access to justice. The project is funded by the UK government’s Regulator’s Pioneer Fund, from which the Solicitors Regulation Authority was awarded a £168,000 grant.

Senior Judge, Sir Geoffrey Vos, suggests that Technology will be embedded in the UK Justice System by 2040


Sir Geoffrey Vos encouraged the legal system to embrace the benefits of technology in his speech given on March 17th, where he highlighted how artificial intelligence among other digital technologies will become a core aspect of the UK justice system in the next two decades. During his speech, Vos set out the image of a future where the justice system uses AI to speed up the justice process and resolve problems.
