FLW UK is back! With 4 days of networking opportunities, workshops, presentations and a hackathon that are delivered by leading legal innovators, FLW UK is the place to be for all things legal technology!

FLW UK is a unique event that focuses on innovative advancements in the legal industry whilst uniting all those from the in-house, private practice and litigation sectors and is designed to facilitate dialogue between these different areas of law. 

FLW UK 5.0 will be taking place from the 17th – 20th of May 2022 at the notable etc. venues, St. Pauls.

Day 2 of FLW UK 5.0 is In-House Day, and will be focusing on innovation among in-house legal teams, legal operations professionals, and legal tech startups while exploring clients’ evolving relationships with a range of legal service providers. 

We’re excited to highlight one of our panel discussions that will be included in this year’s In-House Day, “Push it to the Limit”.

The panel explores what law and tech firms can do to better support overworked in-house legal teams. 

The panel will be chaired by: 

Nick Cranfield
Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President of Corporate Governance | Therme Group

Nick Cranfield is the Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President of Corporate Governance at Therme Group. In his role at Therme Nick is responsible for the oversight of legal risk and the delivery of legal services across the Group. Nick also serves on the Group’s Executive Board.

Before joining Therme Group Nick built up wide ranging and global experience in the leadership of in-house legal teams and the delivery of legal and compliance services over 15 years. Most recently Nick was the Global Legal Services Director at Dyson, where in support of the Chief Legal Officer he managed Dyson’s global legal teams and led a project to transform the delivery of legal services across the enterprise. Prior to this Nick lived in Shanghai for several years working as a Legal Director for Johnson Matthey’s Clean Air Sector. Nick’s legal career started at Eversheds where he trained and qualified as an Associate in the Commercial Dispute Resolution team. Outside of work Nick enjoys running marathons, watching all sport and trying to keep up with his two boys aged 7 and 5.

Francesca Porter is a General counsel and executive team member at Onfido, fast growth AI company who digitally prove people’s real identities using a photo ID and facial biometrics. Strong commercial skills with sharp business focus and passion for legal operational excellence. Skilled in commercial law, negotiations and providing strategic legal advice, overseeing commercial litigation, fundraising’s, intellectual property programmes, IT outsourcings and M&A. Experienced in managing global teams and driving innovative solutions with a focus on data driven insights and legal design. Member of the Disruptive GC Network and TechGC Community.

Sam Lester
Director | TD Securities

Sam Lester is Legal Director for TD Securities, the broker dealer of The Toronto-Dominion Bank, HEADQUARTERED IN TORONTO, CANADA WITH APPROXIMATELY 90,000 EMPLOYEES AND 26 MILLION CUSTOMERS WORLDWIDE. BASED IN THE CITY OF LONDON, Mr. Lester PROVIDES LEGAL ADVICE AND SUPPORT TD Securities’ EMEA platform, having joined TD Securities in 2020. Prior to TD Securities, Mr. Lester held roles at both Credit Suisse and Jefferies in London.
