Carla Swanburg, CEO of ClearyX

First up is Carla Swanburg, CEO of ClearyX! Carla is not a newbie to the Legal Innovators California conference, as she spoke at our inaugural edition! Carla has previously mentioned that “Unlike some conferences, [Legal Innovators California] is one really is a great ecosystem across all different facets of legal innovation and change making!” You heard it here first folks!

With a diverse legal background spanning several decades Carla began her career as a litigator in private practice, following which she joined one of Canada’s largest banks where she led an in-house team. She later became the Chief Innovation Officer of a national Canadian law firm. Carla then joined Epiq, a global ALSP, where she was responsible for building out the Canadian eDiscovery business.

Carla joined ClearyX in September 2021 and is excited to be building a fully remote team focused on reimagining how legal services can be delivered in ways that provide improved efficiency, high quality work product and a better client and user experience. She lives in Nova Scotia, on Canada’s East coast.

We can’t wait for Carla to join us on stage once again, this time, she’ll be speaking on Private Practice day (June 7th 2023) on the panel “More Than Law – The evolving legal innovation ecosystem”.  How fitting!

Vedika Mehera – Innovation Advisor at Orrick

Like Carla, this is not Vedika’s first Legal Innovators rodeo! In 2022, Vedika discussed how to reshape legal services, but this year she’s upping the anti and speaking on the theme of the evolution of the legal innovation team on June 7th!

As Orrick’s Innovation Advisor, Vedika has devoted her career to improving the delivery of legal services. She is trained and skilled in legal operations and technology and applies Six Sigma principles to each project. She uses her legal background to understand the business of law, and her technical and process skills to enhance client value. Working closely with clients and matter teams, Vedika’s engagements range from consulting on quick-wins using low fidelity solutions, to in-depth and ongoing collaborations with multiple stakeholders and tools across the firm, to solve complex challenges. She regularly consults for clients on legal operations initiatives including contract lifecycle management, automation, process improvement, knowledge management, data, and other issues that are top of mind for the industry.

Vedika also focuses on internal operations including managing the firm’s automation services, overseeing innovation projects from ideation to execution, and the research and implementation of legal technologies for firm-wide adoption. Her efforts ensure that the same principles of innovation and creativity are leveraged across internal and external solutions alike, with the goal of increasing the productivity, quality, and efficiency of service delivery.

We can’t wait to see Vedika again in San Francisco in June 2023!

Noam Cohen, Founding Partner at CGL LLP

Last but certainly not least is Noam Cohen! Unlike Carla and Vedika, Noam is a Legal Innovators newbie, but that doesn’t mean she’s new to the game!

Noam Cohen is a founding partner at CGL and the firm’s managing partner. Her practice focuses on companies in all stages of development. She has broad transactional experience advising emerging growth companies and more established technology companies in various areas including formations and restructurings, equity and debt financings, strategic partnerships and M&A. She has also represented venture capital firms and leading investment banks in both private financings and public offerings. Prior to CGL, Noam worked in the Silicon Valley office of Goodwin Procter LLP and oversaw partnership development at a late-stage technology company in San Francisco.
